Pathway Partners is an independent spin-off of Hope's Healthy Communities Group. It is a platform for sharing ideas and coordinating resources in the Hope area to improve the quality and variety of pathways that are within or extend outward from the District of Hope. Our goal is to promote healthy outdoor living for the residents of Hope and its visitors. This short slide presentation says more about us.
WHAT WE DO:
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETINGS
We hold open, inclusive and informal meetings once monthly for individuals and group representatives to come and share what is happening in the pathways world, and to be "in the loop". You do not need to be affiliated with an organization to attend, just be enthusiastic about improving the quality of our community pathways.
SPECIAL MEETINGS
We have hosted special topic meetings that engage members of the public, local organizations, municipal, regional and provincial government representatives, and the business community.
COMMUNITY PRESENTATIONS AND PUBLIC CONSULTATION
Pathway Partners has hosted multiple events for the community. If your organization is working on an initiative in the community concerning trails, active transportation or green space development, please contact us for more information on how to be hosted at a Pathway Partners Special Presentation. Previous events have included: Vision Mapping (planning and prioritizing trails and green space development within the District of Hope ) ; Featured Guests Experience The Fraser Planning Team; Featured Guest Advantage Hope ; Featured Guest The Wilderness Committee .

PROJECT: IMAGE BANK
Roll Out Has Occurred!
To view the online catalog follow this link. In order to be a member photographer you will need to set up a free profile on flickr. If you are having issues doing this please email hopepathwaypartners@gmail.com.
Pathway Partners in conjunction with Advantage Hope is encouraging local photographers to create this online photo collection. Viewable by the public, this will be an opportunity for member photographers to showcase their work to a larger audience. Organizations and companies will be able to access a catalogue of high quality images to utilize when promoting our community in their posters, publications and websites. The parameters and management of the group will be decided by the member photographers. Let’s show the world what Hope has to offer!

PROJECT: FAMILY FRIENDLY CYCLING ROUTE
Goal: To identify a family friendly cycling route in Hope
Pathway Partners established the best possible route during the Vision Mapping events held last year. The route was published, along with a map in the Hope Daytripper and the Hope Trails brochure. District of Hope Public Works has approved the addition of decals along the route and is awaiting budget approval.
PROJECT: LANDSTROM RIDGE AND FISHING BAR
Goal: To showcase Landstrom as part of the Experience the Fraser trail from Hope to the Salish Sea
Pathway Partners is working on creating access from town site of Hope along the Historic Kettle Valley Rail bed underneath the Fraser River Bridge, around the base of Landstrom and to the ridge trail and the river beach. This would be a phenomenal addition to our in town recreation, and provide spectacular views of the Mighty Fraser River.
Landstrom Ridge and Bar has been recognized in a letter written by Barry Penner as significant for its recreation and ecological values. An inventory of plant species in 2004 confirmed over 200 different varieties on Landstrom Ridge, including some that are usually only found East of the Cascades. Since then, Landstrom Ridge and Bar has been placed into a Map Reserve by the Ministry of Environment. This is the first step necessary in the process of creating a Regional Park.

WHAT'S HAPPENING:
EXPERIENCE THE FRASER FROM HOPE TO THE SALISH SEA
The Experience the Fraser Project will celebrate the Fraser River's natural and cultural heritage, enhance outdoor recreation opportunities, showcase the regions' riverfront communities and promote the Lower Fraser River Corridor as one of the world's great tourism destinations. This project will connect residents and visitors with communities, nature and the river by creating an opportunity for over 300 kilometres of multi-use trail and related amenities along the Fraser River from Hope to the Salish Sea.
The Experience the Fraser Planning Team supported the undertaking of a multi-year study called the Regional Outdoor Recreation Opportunities: Demand, Supply, and Gaps. Phase I of the study was completed in March of 2011 and is available here . The memorandum about the study is also available here . This study will help to inform the Experience The Fraser team as they move forward with planning and look ahead to implementation.
In October 2011 the Fraser Valley and Metro-Vancouver Regional Districts endorsed the Concept Plan of Experience the Fraser. The Concept Map is available here. Hope is featured prominently in this concept plan and map as an anchor point and East Portal of the project, and has been mentioned as a key area in development of ETF amenities and features.A summary of these are:-Boat Launch and access points to the Fraser River
- Connector Trails along the Fraser River to create a "Canyon to Coast" trail
- Development of waterfront access at Telte-Yet campsite
- Living Village Experience at Greenwood Island
- Upgrade of Kettle Valley Railway Bridge underneath the Fraser Bridge to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians
- Hope to Agassiz waterfront trail
- featured mountain trails that diverge off of the ETF network (eg: Landstrom, Mt. Hope Lookout Trail, etc)
Thank You to all of the Pathway Partners that have attended our Vision Mapping sessions, our Experience the Fraser Information Night, as well as the Experience the Fraser Ideas Forum and are now assisting with the Trails and Green Space Development Study for Hope.
